Hotels

A major expense of any vacation is the cost of accommodation and making the right choice can have a huge impact on your experience.

There are different levels of accommodation when staying in large Russian cities, each with its own characteristics and prices.  In most parts of Russia you can find both internationally renowned hotel chains, such as Marriott, Hilton, Novotel as well as excellent independant local hotels.

Moscow

There are three ring roads inside the Moscow city, they are; the central Boulevard Ring - which is the closest to Red Square and the Kremlin; next is the Garden Ring and finally the accurately if not imaginatively named 'Third Ring Road'.

If you’re visiting Moscow as a tourist then staying in a central area located within walking distance of the main sights and near to a subway station will be the best option (download metro map here).  As with most big cities, the closer you are to the centre the more expensive accomodation will be, if you can afford to stay in a hotel within the Boulevard ring then you will have foot access to a lot of the tourist attractions.  Hotels inside the Boulevard ring vary a lot in price but there are some excellent places to stay.

Here are our recommendations for Moscow across budget ranges and locations:
